Therapy centered on radical change.
Meet Patricia (she/they)
Who Am I?
As a Queer and neurodivergent Filipino immigrant, I hold a firm commitment to the principles of providing liberation-oriented, profoundly-affirming, and evidence-based therapeutic services. In my personal life, I am a avid reader who owns too many books and engages in a wide variety of hobbies, joyfully rotating through different activities in various "phases." In addition to being actively involved in community work such as serving as an adult literacy tutor and offering volunteer therapy services, I spend time cultivating my interests in expressive arts such as poetry, movement, writing, painting, and playing table-top role-playing or video games.
Experience
I attended San Diego State University's Advanced Standing Master's of Social Work program, with a concentration in Direct Practice. As a graduate student, I engaged in internships, organizing, and volunteer work through CEAAL where we held food and mutual aid distributions, We All We Got SD as a volunteer, Community Research Foundation's voluntary residential program, SDSU's Agape Episcopalian and Lutheran Student Center (non-denominationally focused community organizing), Black and Pink, and local Filipino/x groups.
Prior to my Master’s, I obtained my Bachelor's degree double-majoring in Social Work and Women's Studies also at San Diego State University. In undergrad, I participated in volunteer work and internships through San Diego Youth Services as a Mentor/Tutor, Consensus Organizing Center's Step Up program as a Teaching Assistant, WRC as a SART advocate and House Manager for their transitional housing and emergency shelter program for survivors of IPV, as well as Union of Pan Asian Communities as a family rehabilitation specialist. I was also selected as the Outstanding Graduate for the Women's Studies department and was given the honor of speaking on behalf of the graduating cohort during the Women's Studies graduation ceremony.
As a therapist, I have worked in public and private settings such as group practices, community mental health centers, and "correctional" settings. I utilize an anti-carceral and eclectic approach to achieving your goals and have received intensive training in DBT, DBT-PE, Motivational Interviewing, person-centered therapy, couples therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Experiential Therapy.
